Frequently Asked Questions

What is PEQUEDU?

PEQUEDU is an interactive language-learning platform designed to make learning languages engaging, playful and accessible for children, families and complete beginners.

PEQUEDU combines vocabulary learning, interactive games, activities, visual learning, audio and listening, and rewards so that users can learn through exploration and play rather than relying only on traditional exercises.

Learning is designed around sound, images and interaction — so a child can engage with language even when they may not yet be able to read or write.

PEQUEDU can be used by children and adults. An adult account holder creates and manages the account and can create up to three Profiles for people who use the platform.

Who can use PEQUEDU?

PEQUEDU is designed for families and individual learners.

An adult creates and controls the PEQUEDU account. The account holder can create Profiles for the people who will use the platform.

Profiles do not need to represent children. Adults can also create and use a Profile themselves and use PEQUEDU as a learner.

What is a Profile?

A Profile is a learning space within an adult's PEQUEDU account.

An account can have up to three Profiles. Each Profile can have its own learning progress, achievements, badges, rewards and personalised in-app content.

A Profile can use a display name and a PEQUEDU avatar. The display name does not have to be the person's real name.

Profiles are not independent PEQUEDU accounts and cannot be created independently of the adult account.

Does PEQUEDU require information about my child?

No unnecessary personal information about a Profile user is required.

PEQUEDU does not require a Profile to contain a date of birth, age, email address, telephone number, payment information or physical address.

The account holder can choose a display name and avatar for each Profile. The display name does not have to be the person's real name.

Learning information such as progress, completed activities, achievements, badges and rewards may be associated with a Profile so that PEQUEDU can provide the learning experience.

Can children create their own PEQUEDU account?

No.

The PEQUEDU account is created and controlled by an adult account holder.

The account holder is responsible for managing the account and its Profiles. Children or other Profile users do not independently create the family account or manage its sensitive account settings.

How many Profiles can I have?

Each PEQUEDU account can have up to three Profiles.

The Profiles can be used by children, adults or any combination of learners.

Can Profiles have different progress?

Yes.

Each Profile has its own learning activity and progress.

Achievements, badges, rewards and other learning-related information are associated with the relevant Profile rather than being shared automatically between Profiles.

What languages does PEQUEDU support?

PEQUEDU provides language-learning content in multiple languages.

The platform interface currently supports:

  • English
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Valencian

The availability of particular learning content can vary depending on the activity and language combination.

English is the default language of the platform.

Can a child use PEQUEDU if they cannot read yet?

Yes. PEQUEDU is designed so that language learning can begin through listening, images and interaction — not through reading.

Activities use spoken language, audio and visual cues. A child does not need to read or write to start exploring vocabulary, games and other learning activities.

Reading-related activities such as alphabet learning may become relevant later, but they are not a prerequisite for getting started.

Does PEQUEDU use audio?

Yes. Audio and listening are an important part of how PEQUEDU works.

Learners encounter pronunciation, vocabulary and language through sound alongside images and interaction. This audio-supported approach helps make language accessible, especially for young children and complete beginners.

Is PEQUEDU suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. PEQUEDU is designed for complete beginners.

Learners can start with vocabulary, listening, visual recognition and simple interactive activities without needing prior language knowledge or reading ability.

Progress builds through repetition, play and exploration rather than through formal tests or text-heavy exercises.

How does learning through listening work on PEQUEDU?

On PEQUEDU, learners hear words and phrases as they see images and interact with activities.

Listening comes first in many experiences: a learner can recognise and respond to language through sound and visuals before needing to read text on screen.

This helps children connect meaning, pronunciation and vocabulary in a natural way — similar to how language is often encountered before formal reading instruction.

Read our parent guide How Children Learn Languages Through Listening for a longer explanation of why listening matters and how it can support beginners.

How does PEQUEDU use play for language learning?

Games and interactive activities turn language learning into something a child can explore rather than something they must sit through passively.

Through vocabulary games, memory activities, finding and connecting tasks, and other playful formats, learners meet the same language in different contexts.

Play is part of the teaching method — mistakes are treated as feedback, and learners can continue after getting something wrong.

What makes PEQUEDU different from traditional language-learning exercises?

PEQUEDU is built for visual, interactive and audio-supported learning rather than text-heavy worksheets or drills alone.

It is designed around curiosity, play and exploration — not around advertising, in-app purchases, artificial urgency or manipulative engagement mechanics.

Parents control the family account and subscription. The learning experience is separate from monetisation directed at children.

Read more about the PEQUEDU philosophy on our About PEQUEDU page.

What can I learn on PEQUEDU?

PEQUEDU includes different types of interactive learning activities, including vocabulary, language exercises and games.

Depending on the available content, users can work with areas such as:

  • Animals
  • Food
  • Numbers
  • Colours
  • Clothing
  • Rooms and household items
  • Transport
  • Nature
  • People and professions
  • Actions and verbs
  • Shapes
  • Places
  • Family
  • Everyday objects
  • Sentences and language structures
  • Opposites
  • Alphabet and letters

PEQUEDU is continuously being developed and new learning content and activities may be added over time.

What are the games for?

Games turn learning into an active experience.

PEQUEDU includes different types of activities such as vocabulary games, memory activities, finding and connecting activities, painting activities, sentence-building exercises and other interactive learning experiences.

The purpose is not simply to memorise individual words, but to repeatedly encounter and use language in different ways.

What are achievements and badges?

Achievements recognise learning activity and progress within PEQUEDU.

When a Profile completes certain activities or reaches particular goals, it may unlock an achievement and receive a badge and/or reward.

Achievements belong to the relevant Profile and are displayed in the PEQUEDU achievement system.

What are Leaves?

Leaves are an in-app reward/currency used within PEQUEDU.

Profiles can earn Leaves through learning activities and achievements and can use them for certain in-app features, including elements of the PEQUEDU room and shop experience.

Leaves have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money.

What is the PEQUEDU room?

PEQUEDU includes an interactive room where a Profile can use items and customise its learning environment.

Items can be obtained through the PEQUEDU shop using in-app Leaves where applicable.

Room items and placements are associated with the individual Profile so that each Profile can maintain its own environment.

What is LUMI?

LUMI is the PEQUEDU mascot and companion character.

LUMI appears throughout the PEQUEDU experience and is part of the platform's visual identity and learning environment.

Do I need to pay to use PEQUEDU?

PEQUEDU is a subscription-based service.

The available subscription plans and their current prices are displayed during the registration and subscription process.

PEQUEDU may also offer promotional access through specific promotion codes.

Is there a free trial?

PEQUEDU offers a 14-day free trial to eligible new memberships.

A valid payment method is required when starting a subscription trial. The commercial trial is available only once per family account.

If the family has already used its PEQUEDU commercial trial, cancelling, returning, renewing or starting another subscription does not create a second trial.

Unless the subscription is cancelled before the trial ends, the subscription will continue according to the selected plan and the applicable payment will be charged after the trial period.

The exact price and billing interval are shown before the subscription is completed.

How are PEQUEDU subscriptions paid?

PEQUEDU uses Stripe for subscription payment processing.

Stripe handles payment details, payment processing, recurring billing and related payment operations.

PEQUEDU does not need to receive or store your complete payment-card details.

You will be shown the applicable price, billing interval and trial conditions before completing the subscription.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription using the cancellation option provided by PEQUEDU or the applicable subscription/payment system.

Ordinary cancellation prevents the subscription from renewing into a new billing period. Premium access normally continues until the end of the current trial or paid period.

If you are within the 14-day commercial trial and cancel successfully before it ends, the paid subscription will not begin.

Cancellation is different from the statutory right of withdrawal. Where a valid withdrawal right applies and is exercised, Premium access may end immediately. Please see the Terms & Conditions for the distinction.

What happens if my payment fails?

If a subscription payment cannot be completed, Stripe may retry the payment or change the subscription status according to Stripe's billing process.

PEQUEDU will use the verified subscription status to determine whether the account remains entitled to Premium access.

If a subscription is no longer active or otherwise entitled to access, Premium access may be restricted until a valid subscription is restored.

What happens if I cancel a Founding 500 subscription?

The Founding 500 offer is a special introductory offer for qualifying founding subscribers.

If a Founding 500 subscriber cancels their subscription, their Founding 500 status and associated founding price are permanently lost.

If that person later subscribes again, they are not entitled to reclaim the founding price.

The applicable subscription price at the time of the new subscription will apply.

What are the Founding 500 memberships?

PEQUEDU may offer a special annual subscription price to its first 500 qualifying paying subscribers.

The Founding 500 is an annual subscription at the special Founding Member price of €74.99 per year. The special founding price remains available while the membership stays active.

Founding 500 is available only to families entering their first PEQUEDU membership. A family with any previous PEQUEDU subscription history is not eligible, even if it never previously held Founding status and even if places remain.

A free trial or registration by itself does not qualify as a Founding 500 membership. The allocation is based on qualifying successful paid subscriptions according to the applicable offer rules.

Once all 500 founding places have been allocated, the founding offer closes and new subscribers use the applicable standard pricing.

Can I use a promotion code?

PEQUEDU may provide promotion codes for specific purposes, such as friends, family, testers, teachers, collaborators or promotional campaigns.

A promotion code can provide a discount or, where specifically configured, 100% free access.

Promotion codes are subject to their individual conditions, including eligibility, duration, usage limits and expiry.

A 100% promotional offer is not the same as the PEQUEDU 14-day commercial trial. Promotional access does not reset or create a new commercial trial entitlement.

A promotion code does not automatically create a Founding 500 membership unless the applicable offer expressly provides otherwise.

Does PEQUEDU see my payment-card details?

PEQUEDU uses Stripe to process subscription payments.

Payment information is handled through Stripe's payment infrastructure. PEQUEDU does not intentionally store complete payment-card details in its own application database.

For more information about Stripe's processing of payment information, please consult the relevant Stripe information provided during checkout and Stripe's own privacy documentation.

Is my information safe?

PEQUEDU uses technical and organisational measures intended to protect account information and the information processed through the service.

PEQUEDU also uses authentication and server-side access controls to protect account and learning data.

Sensitive account operations are separated from Profile learning activity, and Profiles cannot independently manage the adult account's sensitive settings.

No online service can guarantee absolute security, but PEQUEDU aims to follow appropriate security and privacy principles and to minimise the personal information it collects.

For more information, please read the Privacy Policy.

What information does PEQUEDU collect?

PEQUEDU collects information necessary to provide and operate the service.

Depending on how you use PEQUEDU, this can include account information, authentication information, subscription information, learning progress, Profile information, achievements, rewards and technical information necessary for security and operation.

PEQUEDU aims to collect only information that is necessary for the relevant purpose.

For a complete explanation of the information processed, why it is processed, how long it is retained and your rights, please read the Privacy Policy.

Does PEQUEDU use children's personal information?

PEQUEDU is designed so that the adult account holder controls the account and creates the Profiles.

PEQUEDU does not require a Profile to contain a child's real name, date of birth, age, email address, telephone number, physical address or payment information.

The account holder can use a nickname or other display name instead of a real name.

Learning activity and progress can nevertheless be associated with a Profile because this is necessary to provide the personalised learning experience.

The adult account holder is responsible for the Profiles created within their account.

For full information about data protection and Profiles, please read the Privacy Policy.

Can a Profile user change the account settings?

Sensitive account and family-management functions are controlled by the adult account holder.

Certain functions require the parental passcode.

This helps prevent a Profile user from independently changing important account or family settings.

What happens to my learning progress?

Learning progress is associated with the relevant Profile so that PEQUEDU can remember completed activities and provide an ongoing learning experience.

Achievements, badges and applicable rewards can also be associated with the Profile.

If an account is deleted, the handling and deletion of associated information is governed by the Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.

Can I delete my PEQUEDU account?

Yes.

The adult account holder can request deletion of their PEQUEDU account.

Deletion is subject to applicable legal and operational requirements, including information that PEQUEDU may be required to retain for a limited period.

For details about deletion and your data-protection rights, please see the Privacy Policy.

Can I access PEQUEDU without registering?

Some public information pages, such as this FAQ, Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions and other information pages, can be accessed without an account.

The learning application and Premium content require the appropriate account and entitlement.

Public access to information pages does not provide access to Premium learning content.

What if I find a technical problem?

Please contact us through Contact Support or use Report a Bug.

When reporting a technical problem, it is helpful to tell us:

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened
  • What you expected to happen
  • Which device you were using
  • Which browser you were using
  • Which language PEQUEDU was displaying
  • The steps that caused the problem

A screenshot can also be useful where appropriate.

Please do not send passwords, payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information.

  • Cookie Policy
  • About PEQUEDU
  • Contact Support

Which version of the legal documents applies?

PEQUEDU's legal documents may be updated when the service, applicable law or PEQUEDU's processing activities change.

The applicable version and any relevant version information are provided in the respective document.

Where PEQUEDU provides translations of its legal information, English is the master language version. Translations are provided for convenience and accessibility.

Mandatory rights under applicable law are not restricted by this language provision.

What happens if my membership ends?

Your PEQUEDU account does not need to be recreated when a membership ends.

You can sign in to the same account and choose an available membership again. Your account, Profiles and learning progress are retained.

Ending or renewing a membership does not create a second 14-day commercial trial if the family has already used its trial.

A new paid membership begins according to the plan and conditions selected at that time.

What is the difference between cancellation and withdrawal?

They are two different things.

Cancellation stops a subscription from renewing. Premium access normally continues until the end of the current trial or paid period.

Withdrawal is the exercise of a statutory consumer right where applicable. When a valid withdrawal is exercised through the PEQUEDU withdrawal mechanism, Premium access may end immediately. Your account and learning progress are retained.

Any refund resulting from withdrawal depends on applicable consumer law and the circumstances of the subscription; it is not necessarily automatic.

How does the Refer & Earn €5 programme work?

Active Premium members may receive a unique referral link leading to the PEQUEDU homepage.

A referral qualifies only when the referred family is a genuinely new PEQUEDU customer and makes its first successful paid payment for a qualifying membership: the 6-month, annual or Founding 500 plan. A monthly membership does not qualify.

A click, registration, email verification or trial alone does not qualify. For each successful qualifying referral, the referring member receives a €5 membership credit through the applicable Stripe customer balance. It is not cash.

Successful referrals are not limited in number. Self-referrals are prohibited, and existing PEQUEDU customers cannot become referrals through a referral link.

If the referred membership is cancelled or withdrawn before the qualifying payment is completed, no reward is earned. A later refund or reversal of the qualifying payment may result in reversal of the associated referral credit.

Where does my referral link lead?

Your referral link leads to the PEQUEDU homepage, rather than directly to the registration page.

The visitor can first explore PEQUEDU, choose their language, and then select Create Account. The referral attribution is retained through the registration process.

Does PEQUEDU share my customer information with social media platforms?

No. PEQUEDU does not send your customer details to TikTok, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube simply because social-media links are provided on the website.

PEQUEDU may provide ordinary external links to its social-media profiles so visitors can choose to follow them. These are links to external websites, not embedded social-media widgets, pixels or customer-data integrations.

If you choose to click an external social-media link, the social-media platform will handle your visit according to its own privacy practices.
