About PEQUEDU
What is PEQUEDU?
PEQUEDU is an interactive language-learning platform designed to make language learning engaging, playful and accessible for children, families and complete beginners.
Learning is built around listening, audio, visual interaction, play and exploration. A child can encounter vocabulary, pronunciation and language activities through sound and images — not by relying on reading or writing first.
PEQUEDU combines vocabulary learning, interactive games, activities, visual learning, audio and rewards so learners can discover languages in a way that feels natural and approachable.
The platform currently supports English, German, Spanish and Valencian. An adult account holder creates and manages a parent-controlled family account with up to three Profiles for the people who learn within the family.
For common questions, see our Frequently Asked Questions. For membership details, see Pricing & Membership.
1. Why PEQUEDU exists
PEQUEDU was born from a frustration with the direction much of children's educational technology has taken.
Too often, learning platforms can become focused on keeping users engaged rather than helping them genuinely learn — with advertising, constant interruptions, aggressive monetisation, artificial urgency, complicated interfaces or systems designed primarily to increase screen time.
PEQUEDU was created as an alternative.
A place where learning remains the purpose.
Technology supports the learning experience rather than distracting from it. Curiosity is encouraged rather than pressure. Parents remain in control. And trust is treated as something more important than engagement statistics.
2. Learning through seeing, hearing and doing
PEQUEDU is built around the idea that learning does not have to begin with reading and writing.
Audio and listening are central to how PEQUEDU works. Words, phrases and pronunciation are encountered through sound as well as images, so learners — including children who may not yet read or write — are not expected to rely on literacy to begin.
A learner can encounter a concept through:
- images and illustrations
- spoken language
- authentic pronunciation
- visual demonstrations
- touch and interaction
- repetition
- games
- exploration
The goal is to make learning accessible and intuitive, particularly for learners who are still developing their reading skills.
Learning through play isn't an extra layer added on top of education at PEQUEDU.
Play is part of the teaching method.
Mistakes are treated as feedback rather than failure, and learners can continue progressing after getting something wrong.
For a longer guide for parents on this topic, read How Children Learn Languages Through Listening.
3. From languages to a broader learning experience
PEQUEDU began with a strong focus on language learning and has naturally grown into something broader.
The platform currently brings together learning experiences involving:
Languages
Vocabulary, pronunciation, alphabet recognition, letter sounds, tracing, sentence formation, grammar, verb conjugation, listening and word recognition.
Mathematics
Counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and visually demonstrated mathematical concepts.
Logic & cognitive skills
Memory, matching, finding, connecting, observation and categorisation.
Creativity & exploration
Games, rewards, achievements, badges, interactive exploration and LUMI's home, where learning rewards can become part of a personalised environment.
PEQUEDU currently supports English, German, Spanish and Valencian, with audio-supported learning across these languages.
4. Meet LUMI
At the heart of PEQUEDU's world is LUMI.
LUMI accompanies learners through their PEQUEDU journey and is part of the playful world that connects learning, rewards, creativity and exploration.
As learners complete activities, games and achievements, they can earn Leaves. These learning rewards can be used within LUMI's home to unlock and arrange decorative elements.
The purpose isn't competition.
It is to give learning a sense of discovery, progress and personal ownership.
5. Designed around families
PEQUEDU uses a parent-controlled family account.
The adult account holder manages the family account, subscription and parental settings, while up to three Profiles can have their own learning experience within the family account.
Each Profile can have its own progress, rewards, badges, achievements and saved learning information.
The parental area is protected by a Parent PIN so that account and family-management functions remain under the adult's control.
And PEQUEDU isn't only for children.
The platform can also be used by adults and other learners who enjoy visual, interactive and audio-supported learning.
6. What PEQUEDU believes
We believe learning should be encouraged, not forced.
A learner should be able to make mistakes without feeling that they have failed.
A learner should be able to take a break and return without losing what they have earned.
Rewards should recognise effort and exploration, not create pressure.
And learning should not depend on competing against somebody else.
PEQUEDU therefore does not build its learning experience around punishment for missed days, expiring rewards, forced streak maintenance, fear of missing out or competition between learners.
7. No advertising. No hidden purchases.
PEQUEDU is a commercial platform, but the learning experience is not designed around advertising or extracting additional spending from children.
PEQUEDU does not display advertising to children, does not use advertising interruptions within the learning experience and does not use in-app purchases.
The subscription is managed by the adult account holder and remains separate from the learner's experience.
The principle is simple:
“The family is the customer being served. The child is not the customer being monetised.”
8. Built by a founder, not by an engagement algorithm
PEQUEDU is founder-led.
Its educational philosophy, product direction, ethics, game concepts, user experience, monetisation philosophy, safety principles and parent experience remain human decisions.
Technology — including AI-assisted development tools — can help with coding, testing, documentation and other technical work.
But technology does not decide what PEQUEDU should become.
The educational vision comes first. Technology serves it.
9. Meet the person behind PEQUEDU
PEQUEDU was created by Sabrina Renate Bonnett.
PEQUEDU grew from the experience of being a parent, seeing the possibilities of technology, and asking whether children's digital learning could be built differently.
The answer became PEQUEDU.
Sabrina's guiding test for major decisions is deliberately simple:
“Would I be happy for my own child to use this?”
Alongside that question come others:
- Does this genuinely improve learning?
- Does it respect the learner's attention?
- Does it respect the parent's trust?
- Does it introduce unnecessary pressure or monetisation?
- Does it collect information that isn't genuinely necessary?
- Would I be comfortable explaining this decision openly to parents?
Those questions are part of the foundation on which PEQUEDU is being built.
10. Where PEQUEDU is going
PEQUEDU is designed to grow, but growth should never mean losing what made it worth building in the first place.
The platform may evolve to include more languages, educational subjects, games, accessibility features, family features and potentially mobile and school-focused experiences.
But one principle remains constant:
“A bigger PEQUEDU should still feel like PEQUEDU.”
11. Our promise
PEQUEDU does not aim to become the platform that keeps children on a screen for the longest time.
It aims to become the platform that parents trust enough to let their children use.
We don't measure our success simply by screen time, clicks or artificial engagement.
We want families to return because they find genuine value in what PEQUEDU offers.
And ultimately, we'd rather have a parent recommend PEQUEDU because they trust it than have a learner return because they are afraid of losing a streak.
Learning first.
Curiosity over pressure.
Trust over engagement.
That is PEQUEDU.
